Late Nights With KWF

Jul 10, 2023 | Featured Posts, Readers

Launched in 2021, the Late Nights with KWF series showcases the new, edgy, experimental, boundary-pushing, and wonderfully weird. This relaxed evening programming is your chance to hear from authors and artists who are not afraid to challenge the status quo – whether in content or form.

This year, we offer two exciting programs.

On Friday night from 9:00 – 10:00 pm, enjoy Late Nights with KWF: Graphic Content, featuring authors Kevin Chong and Christina Wong in conversation with Aara Macauley.

In The Double Life of Benson Yu, and Denison Avenue, authors Kevin Chong and Christina Wong play with form to create moving works about coming-of-age and decades of change in Canadian Chinatowns. One is a surreal work of metafiction. The other is a quietly moving novel/graphic novel hybrid. In both, Kevin and Christina explore complex themes of age, trauma, racism, the tides of change, and hybrid art forms.

Then, on Saturday night from 9:00 – 10:30, its time to savour a sip at Curate.Social and tune into our Strange Salon with Hives of Activity, featuring a selection of weird and wonderful readings from Patrick Errington, Jason Heroux, Stuart Ross, Carolyn Smart, and Paul Vermeersch –  a singular group of Canadian authors who are not afraid to push the literary envelope to tickle your aural fancies. Get ready for alternate futures, the dawn of civilizations, all-knowing potatoes, loss, grief, and centipedes.
